Again, sorry for the gap between posts. In fact, I feel so bad that I knew I needed to offer something truly wonderful as penance.
Check out this clip of comedian Louis CK on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He nails what I think many of us have noticed - we live in a really unappreciative world. Actually, each generation simply struggles to appreciate the effort and the innovation of the ones who went before them, creating the high standard of living that we inevitably take for granted. (If you’ve ever read a little book called the “Bible” you may notice that this is also a recurring theme in the Old Testament, among the children of Israel - i.e. the entire book of Isaiah) In other words, we’re greedy pigs.

Great clip! I’ll show this to my son the next time he (a 13 yo!) asks me for a new cell phone for Christmas!

Thanks Matt, I couldn’t agree more. Technology has also made us a ruder world. We don’t know how to talk to people, but man we can type our fingers off in shorthand. Let’s just smile and say hi once in a while.

That clip really helps put things into perspective! I think we all get so caught up with what the latest and greatest “thing” is going to be that we lose sight of what’s really important- God, family, and love for one another. We also take daily luxuries for granted because we get so used to having them around, and most of the time all we have to do is shell out a little money for them, but we don’t actually have to do the physical work to have them. I know that during the hurricane in September, a lot of us got a taste of what it would be like to live without some of those luxuries, and I think it was a shock for most of us!
